Since its creation in 2014, emerging from the New Music Festival held at Universidad EAFIT, the MUSUX Group has established itself as a leading reference in interdisciplinary artistic research and creation. Composed of artists and researchers with backgrounds in music, dance, video, photography, literature, and other disciplines, MUSUX is dedicated to exploring new sonic, visual, and computational technologies for the production of avant-garde artistic works.

One of the group’s first major recognitions came in 2016, when, in collaboration with the Graduate Program in Creative Writing, MUSUX developed an internal research project at Universidad EAFIT titled Al Otro Lado de la Córnea. The project culminated in two highly impactful concerts held at the Medellín Museum of Modern Art and Casa Teatro del Poblado.

In 2018, MUSUX was awarded the Creation Grant from the Medellín Mayor’s Office for its project Prisma Sonoro. That same year, in collaboration with the ensemble Decibeles, the group presented Ofertorio de las Esferas, an innovative musical staging performed at the Medellín Metropolitan Cathedral. This production integrated a choir, a brass quintet, an organ, and an 8.1 spatialized electroacoustic sound system.

The group has maintained a consistent artistic output through its semiannual concert series Biósfera Sonora, a platform for presenting both individual and collective compositions and projects. Among its most notable works are Paranoia (Suite of Mental Illnesses); the installation Museo de los Esfuerzos Inútiles (exhibited at La Sala U of the National University of Colombia, Medellín campus); Sueños, a concert in which each member composed a personal interpretation of the dream world; and MUSUX 10 Years with the EAFIT Symphony Orchestra, an electroacoustic work celebrating the group’s anniversary.

MUSUX is also distinguished by a working methodology grounded in collective reflection and interdisciplinary experimentation. The group seeks to ensure that each artistic work emerges from shared ideas, allowing its artistic diversity to be expressed around a common conceptual core. Through creation, research, and the learning of new disciplines, members jointly explore the layers of information that arise from the transversal interaction of different fields of knowledge. This approach fosters meaningful symbiosis, strengthening interpersonal relationships while encouraging both individual and collective growth. The selection of projects of shared interest—aligned with conceptual and creative expectations—along with innovation in production and realization processes, constitutes a fundamental pillar of the group’s practice.

The trajectory of MUSUX also includes significant interdisciplinary collaborations, such as Deriva Animal, presented at La Frontera Linear Park in Medellín as part of Biofilia IX by the group Sense. Along these lines, since 2023 the group has collaborated with Transeuntis Mundi, a project by Brazilian PhD Cândida Borges. These experiences have reaffirmed MUSUX’s commitment to interdisciplinary integration and its ongoing search for new forms of artistic expression.

With a solid history of exploration and innovation, the MUSUX Group continues to expand the boundaries of interdisciplinary art and technological experimentation, consolidating itself as a creative space where diverse forms of expression converge to transform the contemporary artistic landscape.

Mission

To foster the creation, research, and production of avant-garde artistic works through a collaborative and interdisciplinary approach that integrates music, dance, video, photography, literature, and new technologies.
